For integrators and site owners planning a camera-based evaluation. Define one observable task before choosing compute hardware.
Capture the environment
| Area | Information needed |
|---|---|
| Task | Objects or events, operational decision and unacceptable errors |
| Camera | Model, interface, lens, resolution, frame rate and placement |
| Scene | Lighting, movement, occlusion, weather and viewing distance |
| Site | Power, mounting, temperature, enclosure and physical access |
| Network | Bandwidth, disconnection behavior and remote support |
| Data | Recording permissions, retention, access and storage |
| Operations | Responsible staff, alert workflow and recovery procedure |
Use representative footage that you are authorized to process. Synthetic or ideal demonstration footage may be useful early, but cannot replace a site test.
Set up an acceptance record
Define the ground truth and sample size. Count false positives and false negatives separately. Measure the time from the event to a usable alert, not only inference inside a model. Include day and night conditions where relevant.
Test sustained operation, power loss, network failure, storage limits and recovery. Record software versions, model settings and hardware configuration. Any threshold is a customer-agreed requirement, not a general promise of performance.
Compare the complete system
The bill of materials should include camera, lens, compute, storage, enclosure, cabling, power and mounting. The commercial comparison should include installation, data preparation, software, remote maintenance and replacements.
Seeed’s engineering ecosystem is one public reference. Vendor demonstrations and case studies help frame questions but do not prove a new site will meet its targets.
Prepare the next conversation
Share the country, number of sites and cameras, intended task, network conditions, target date and local integration owner. Do not upload personal or sensitive video in an initial inquiry.
